Ryan is a political scientist interested in energy and climate policy, and social welfare more generally. Ryan's work bridges the fields of comparative politics and public policy, political economy, and mixed methods research. He is interested in understanding the political and economic conditions necessary for energy system transformation, and using this knowledge to inform current political action and policymaking. He received his Ph.D. from University of Cambridge, where he remains an affiliated researcher with the Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Governance.
