Mr Joel Atkin
Joel is responsible for the strategic administrative management of INET Oxford. He oversees all operational facets of the Centre, including HR, finance, IT, grants, events, visitors, communications and facilities.
He graduated with a BA (Hons.) in English Studies from Oxford Brookes University in 2013 and has worked for the University of Oxford since then. He was a Purchasing Assistant at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology before moving on to become a Research Grants Assistant at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, where he was responsible for supporting the administration of a large portfolio of projects, from application, through award, to project close.
In 2015 Joel became Project Manager for the Energy and Power Group (EPG) in the Department of Engineering Science where he acted as a conduit between the group, the Engineering Science administrative team, project partners and funders. He dealt with purchasing for the group; identified funding opportunities and assisted with grant applications, as well as developing project plans and managing the finances of the group.
In his spare time Joel enjoys reading, cooking and music and is a multi-instrumentalist in three bands. He was also a co-founder and co-director of a music festival which ran for three years in his home town of Darley Dale, Derbyshire.
