Abstract:
We start by thanking Bordiss and Padayachee for reading our paper, as well as the underlying books we have written, seriously enough to attempt to improve on them. We also want to thank ROKE for giving us a chance to comment on their rebalancing. The first thing to notice about Bordiss and Padayachee is that they object to the main point in our 2016 paper. We argued in that paper that Keynes was interested primarily in the world economy. Bordiss and Padayachee argue by contrast that Keynes was interested in the world economy at the beginning and end of his professional career, but that he turned away from that interest in the middle of his career. This clearly is a more complex view than ours, and they say that they have taken it from Skidelsky's classic biography of Keynes.
