Abstract:
The EU Centre was delighted to host this workshop in collaboration with the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science and to welcome Dr. Alex Teytelboym, who shared his research on how decisions from the past influence how we design and adapt for the future. Ultimately, Dr. Teytelboym stresses urgency to develop climate change responses that break from path-dependent policies. Understanding how path dependence has implications to clean energy innovation can significantly influence the design of truly innovative and sustainable climate policy. Shifting our fossil-fuelled society to clean modes of production and consumption requires deep transformations in our energy and economic systems.
