It is difficult to read a high level policy report or strategy document without mention of 'accelerating technology' or 'exponential change', this increasing interest in the rate of technological change and the resulting uncertainty of effects on people, business, and society has corresponded with the rise of interest in technological forecasting methodologies. In this talk, the author will discuss his work developing technological forecasting tools for use in applied settings. The discussion will include discussion of use of technological forecasting in areas such as foresight analysis for policymakers, systems engineering for megaprojects and technological investment strategies.
