Biography
Isaak Mengesha is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Oxford Martin Programme on Forecasting Technological Change and is a member of the Complexity Economics group at the Institute for New Economic Thinking. He holds a PhD in Computational Science from the University of Amsterdam, where he studied the dynamics of complex socio-economic systems.
His research builds the empirical and conceptual basis for anticipatory governance of technological change: steering technological progress in socio-economically favorable directions, and improving preparedness for technology-induced crises. He uses regularities in learning rates and diffusion to forecast the pace of AI and other transformative technologies.
