Jose is undertaking research with Pete Barbrook-Johnson and Doyne Farmer on the topic of plastics sustainability transition. Specifically, his research focus is on accelerating the transition in the petrochemical industry towards low-carbon plastics and on forecasting costs of emerging polymer technologies.

Jose is also the CEO & Co-Founder of BZERO, a startup dedicated to the development and production of new advanced bioplastics. He is highly interested in scaling up operations of new bioplastic technology to compete in cost with conventional fossil plastics, aiming to bridge academia and industry.
