Biography
Juan Luis Santos is a researcher affiliated with the Institute of Economics at the Polish Academy of Sciences (INE PAN) and the Complex Systems in Social Sciences research group (SCCS UAH). His research focuses on regional science, particularly on analyzing the economic dynamics of regions. He specialises in agent-based modeling and spatial econometrics, employing complex systems approaches to better understand the spatial scope of policy interventions and their impacts on regional development.
Juan Luis has participated in interdisciplinary projects that bridge economic theory with computational modeling to generate insights into regional disparities and policy effectiveness. Examples include MOSIPS (Modeling and Simulation of the Impact of Public Policies on SMEs) and the development of a macroeconometric model describing the cyclical behavior of the Valencian Community’s economy.
Juan Luis holds a PhD in Economics and Business from Universidad de Alcala, a MSc in Systems Engineering from URJC and a MSc in Applied Economic Analysis from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. His research has been supported by the European Commission, the Spanish Ministry of Science, regional governments, private companies and foundations.
