Biography

Pietro Bicocchi is a DPhil candidate in Computer Science at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Complexity Economics programme at INET Oxford. He is supervised by Prof. Wooldridge, Prof. Calinescu, and Prof. Farmer.

His research focuses on the calibration of Agent-Based Models - developing rigorous methods to ground these computational frameworks in empirical data and make them more reliable tools for understanding economic systems.

Pietro holds a degree in Theoretical Physics with a focus on Complex Systems, and prior to his doctorate gained experience in strategic consulting at Bain & Company and in trading at Morgan Stanley.

ABMs leverage the flexibility offered by computational simulations in order to avoid a number of problematic assumptions required by traditional modelling approaches.
